There are so many methods to loose weight that people try out these days. In this post I'll be talking about medicines available in sri lanka specifically for the purpose of slimming your body. 

           When I think about it most of such drugs are marketed by the importers through attractive TV commercials. But if it is a medicine proven for quality, safety and efficacy on giving results such chemicals are registered as "Drugs" (Medicines) under the sri lankan drugs Act. More importantly such registered drugs cannot be promoted using advertisements to the general public and should be prescribed only by a doctor (except for drugs in schedule I and IIA under the CDDA Act). This brings up the fact that most slimming capsules,tablets and powder sachets that are promoted heavily these days on morning TV programs are not actually registered as a western medicine, but as a aryurvedic product. The reason is probably because they cannot prove the efficacy of the drug, that the content is giving this much of effect for anyone who use this much of amount per a day- They cannot prove it!.

So like I mentioned there are many products coming under aryurvedic category available in sri lankan pharmacies-. products like "SLIMEXOL" from baraka is a product comes in capsule form made by using goraka. There is another product called "AyurSLIM" manufactured by Himalaya(india). Popular products like "SURE SLIM" is also a capsule which i know for fact that now has reduced its popularity. There are capsules made using green tea extracts which is said to be effective than drinking green tea. For example "SLIMGREEN","HIGREEN" like capsules does not give results for everybody in the same way. There are "GTRIM" like sachet form greentea extracts that is promoted as more effective than normal green tea. But as I explained earlier, we cannot gaurantee the effect.

There is one special chemical compound that is registered as a drug in Sri Lanka, is "Orlistat" which comes under the famous brand name "XENICAL". this drug is originally not for slimming purposes. It is actually a Lipid lowering drug. Lypace is the enzyme that is responsible of absorbing dietary lipids from our intestine. Orlistat can inhibit this action of Lypace thereby it prevent absorption of lipids from what you eat. So this is recommended for loosing weight as well. I have seen how people transform their body miraculously by using this product just for several weeks. But as it will prevent absorbing important vitamins from your food it is not recommended to use for a long term. In order to buy this, unlike other products, you have to bring the doctor's prescription.
